Sandeshkhali News : TMC Official Raises Doubts on CBI Raid, Questions Validity of Seized Arms
On Friday, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) carried out a search operation at a residence in Sandeshkhali, West Bengal, linked to the assault on a group of Enforcement Directorate officials on January 5. The officers were assaulted en route to conducting a raid at the home of Sheikh Shahjahan, a suspended Trinamool Congress leader currently in custody.
Sandeshkhali News : A CBI team comprising 10 members conducted a raid at a residence in the Sarberia locality of Sandeshkhali, which is owned by Abu Taleb, a relative of Hafizul Khan, a local Trinamool Congress leader closely associated with Sheikh Shajahan. Assisted by central security forces, the CBI recovered firearms, ammunition, and multiple explosive devices stored within the premises, according to sources.
Bomb disposal teams from the National Security Guard (NSG) were dispatched to the site in Sandeshkhali subsequent to the discovery of firearms, ammunition, and explosive devices. Acting on a tip-off, investigating officers arrived at the scene equipped with a bomb detection device to identify the explosives. The raid is presently underway.
Sandeshkhali News : Suvendu Adhikari, the Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, criticized the TMC government for the raids in Sandeshkhali and questioned which security force would be deployed next in the area. He mentioned the ED, CBI, NIA, and NSG, and sarcastically suggested if the Army would be the next to arrive. Adhikari further criticized Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, stating that she had forfeited her moral authority to govern West Bengal by harboring individuals like Shahjahan Sheikh, whom he referred to as terrorists.
TMC leader Kunal Ghosh raised suspicions that the arms allegedly recovered by the CBI might have been planted by the party’s adversaries. He highlighted that no arms have been visibly seen yet, and while sources claim the CBI found arms, there hasn’t been any official confirmation. Ghosh suggested the possibility that rival parties or political opponents could have planted the arms, emphasizing that the police should have been vigilant in such matters.
