The inclusion of Tulu in Google Translate has brought joy to Tulu speakers in Dakshina Kannada. Karnataka Tulu Sahithya Academy President Taranath Gatti Kapikad remarked that this is a global honor for the Tulu language and a significant milestone.
“The inclusion of Tulu in Google Translate is a cause for celebration among Tulu speakers,” he emphasized. While it’s common for words to be occasionally misquoted in Google Translate, users can provide feedback to correct these errors.
Kapikad encouraged Tulu speakers to utilize this facility, noting that it will also benefit non-Tulu speakers.
Tulu seeks official status
In fact, the people of Tulu Nadu have long been demanding the inclusion of Tulu in the eighth schedule of the Constitution. MLAs D Vedavyas Kamath, U Rajesh Naik, Gurme Suresh Shetty, and others have praised Google Translate for adding the language. Kamath expressed his gratitude in a Facebook post, saying, “I thank the Google team for adding the Tulu language along with 110 other languages.”
