Flooding in Pokhara Metropolitan City’s Fourth district, located along the Prithvi Highway, has resulted in significant traffic disruptions. The District Police Office Kaski reported that the highway was inundated on Wednesday morning, leading to road collapse. This has caused a halt in vehicle movement on both sides due to the rapid water flow from the mountains near Butwal’s Siddha Baba Temple.

Additionally, a landslide during the night has blocked the Narayangarh-Muglin road section. According to the District Police Office in Ichchhakamna Rural Municipality Ward No. 6, Chitwan, the landslide occurred in Jalbire at 12:30 pm, completely obstructing the road.

Nepal floods strand vehicles, flights

Vehicles traveling to and from Pokhara have been halted on both sides. Similarly, traffic between Narayangarh and Muglin is also at a standstill. Hundreds of vehicles, both Indian and Nepalese, are stranded on these roads. Nepal Police are actively working to evacuate tourists. Continuous rainfall on Wednesday morning has increased the water flow of Anand Toll Ghattekulo in the Fourth district, leading to flooding on the Prithvi Highway.

Several areas in Butwal are submerged due to the rain, impacting flights and landings at Bhairahawa Airport until noon. The rain since Wednesday morning has caused waterlogging in many places in Rupandehi, affecting operations at Gautam Buddha Airport.

In Butwal, the main market area, Milan Chowk, Kalika Nagar, and the Highway intersection are experiencing waterlogging. Locals attribute the flooding to inadequate drainage systems. Heavy rain has also been reported in various parts of Palpa.

This path is being used to evacuate passengers.

He also noted that efforts are underway to repair the roads and improve the traffic situation.
