Turkey Plans 14000 Citizen Evacuations from Lebanon Amid Escalating Crisis
Erdogan condemns Israel, urges intervention
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan criticized Israel’s ground operation in Lebanon, calling on the United Nations and other global organizations to intervene promptly. Addressing the Turkish parliament at the start of the legislative session, he asserted that Israel would eventually be halted, regardless of its actions.
Erdogan compares Netanyahu to Hitler
Erdogan urged immediate action from global institutions, particularly the UN, to halt Israel’s actions. He condemned Israel’s recent ground offensive in Lebanon, which followed a week of heavy airstrikes that killed hundreds. Erdogan warned that Israel’s “terror and genocide” in Gaza had now spread to Lebanon and, if not checked, could target Turkey next.
He accused Israeli leadership, driven by religious extremism, of eyeing Turkey after Palestine and Lebanon. Erdogan also likened Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu to Adolf Hitler, stating that just as Hitler was stopped, Netanyahu would face the same fate.
Turkey plans evacuations from Lebanon
Turkey’s foreign ministry announced it has developed contingency plans to evacuate its citizens from Lebanon due to the expected worsening of the security situation. The ministry stated that alternative evacuation routes, either by sea or air, have been coordinated with relevant authorities. Around 14,000 Turkish citizens are registered with the consulate in Lebanon.
Additionally, the ministry confirmed that it has also outlined procedures to assist in evacuating citizens from nearly 20 other countries, which have requested Turkey’s support, with preparations already underway.
