Multiple flights delayed due to bomb threats

Two IndiGo international flights were delayed, and an Air India flight from Mumbai was diverted following bomb threats, which were later determined to be hoaxes. Air India’s Mumbai-New York flight (AI-119) was redirected to Delhi after receiving a security alert, as per the government’s security regulatory committee. All 239 passengers and 19 crew members were safely disembarked and underwent security checks, with refreshments provided. The flight has been rescheduled for Tuesday morning, and the passengers were accommodated in hotels.

IndiGo’s Mumbai-Jeddah flight (6E 57) also received a bomb threat, causing an 11-hour delay. The aircraft was taken to an isolated bay for mandatory security checks before departing around 1:15 PM. Another IndiGo flight, 6E 1275, bound for Muscat, experienced a similar situation, with a seven-hour delay before departing around 9:15 AM.

Bomb hoaxes have been increasingly disrupting flights in India, leading to delays, cancellations, and intensified security measures. These false alarms cause panic among passengers and result in costly operational challenges for airlines and airports, according to airline officials.

Multiple flights disrupted due to bomb threats

Three international flights, two operated by IndiGo and one by Air India, were disrupted due to fake security threats, prompting security checks on all the planes involved. A total of 258 passengers were aboard the two IndiGo flights. One of these flights has already resumed its journey, while the other is expected to depart this afternoon.

The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) confirmed that three planes received bomb threats, stating that one IndiGo flight has been cleared for departure, while the other two will soon receive clearance. The first incident involved Air India flight AI119, which was en route from Mumbai to New York’s JFK Airport. After a security alert, the flight was diverted to Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, where passengers and crew safely disembarked, and a bomb squad initiated inspections.

Authorities are investigating the threat, and Air India is working closely with security teams to determine further actions. No additional updates have been released by the airline at this time.

Meanwhile, two IndiGo flights from Mumbai were also impacted. Flight 6E1275 to Muscat and Flight 6E56 to Jeddah received similar security threats. Both aircraft were moved to isolated bays at Mumbai Airport, where standard security procedures were followed. The Muscat-bound flight has since departed, and IndiGo emphasized that passenger and crew safety is their top priority.
