Škoda Kylaq Unveiled: Sub-4m SUV with 446L Boot Skoda has officially launched the Kylaq sub-compact SUV in India, starting at a price of ₹7.89 lakh. The vehicle is being marketed as “Made in India” and was even named through a public contest. The winner of the contest was Mohammed Ziyad, a young Quran teacher from Kerala, who is now the first owner of the Kylaq in the country.
The Skoda Kylaq features a refreshed design with a revamped grille, 17-inch wheels, split headlamps, pronounced bonnet creases, and a two-tone bumper. It has an overall length of 3,995mm, making it a sub-4-meter SUV, with a spacious cabin and a best-in-class boot space of 446L. The interior includes dual-tone leather upholstery, an 8-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10-inch touchscreen with an updated OS, wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, a cooled glove box, a wireless charger, a single-pane sunroof, and powered and ventilated front seats.
For safety, the Kylaq is equipped with over 25 active and passive features, including six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, TPMS, and ISOFIX mounts. It is built on the MQB A0 IN platform, with 95% localization, and is powered by a 1.0L TSI engine producing 115hp and 178Nm, achieving a 0-100kph time of 10.54 seconds and a top speed of 188kph.

The Kylaq is designed with a spacious interior, offering a segment-leading boot capacity of 446 liters, and includes advanced safety features as standard, including six airbags. It’s powered by a 1.0 TSI engine, delivering 85 kW and 178 Nm of torque, paired with either a six-speed manual or automatic transmission.
The SUV is part of Škoda’s “Modern Solid” design language, featuring clean lines and a robust look, with a shiny black grille, reinterpreted “four eyes” headlights, and a new Škoda wordmark on the rear. The Kylaq’s compact dimensions (3,995mm in length, 1,783mm in width, and 1,619mm in height) and high ground clearance (189mm) give it an SUV-like character.
Inside, the Kylaq offers a range of premium features, including six-way electric seats with ventilation, a 25.6cm infotainment screen, wireless charging, and cruise control. It’s also equipped with a range of safety technologies, such as traction and stability control, anti-lock brakes, and ISOFIX seats.
Built on the MQB-A0-IN platform, the Kylaq has been tested extensively across various terrains and weather conditions in India. It’s also manufactured with sustainability in mind, using solar energy and ensuring the plant is water-positive.
