Rivian has introduced its first special-edition variants of the R1T pickup and R1S SUV, known as the California Dune Edition. These models feature an exclusive tan exterior color inspired by Southern California’s sand dunes, along with a Darkout package that enhances the contrast between the badging and bodywork.

Inside, the cabin sports a two-tone design, with a Black Mountain upper section and a Sandstone lower half. The flooring is designed for easy cleaning, and the seats, center console, door panels, and floor mats all feature the Sandstone hue.

Built on the Tri-Motor platform, the California Dune Edition delivers 850 horsepower and 1103 lb-ft of torque, enabling a 0–60 mph sprint in just 2.9 seconds. It also includes Rivian’s Soft Sand drive mode to match its desert-inspired theme.

The special edition comes standard with the All-Terrain package—normally a $3,700 option—which adds 20-inch wheels, a spare tire, and a reinforced underbody shield. Buyers can choose between darkened wheels or ones painted in California Dune to match the body. However, equipping this package reduces the Tri-Motor version’s EPA-estimated range from 371 miles to 329 miles.

Unique accessories further distinguish these models, including black MAXTRAX traction boards mounted on the roof rack. The R1T variant also features a redesigned powered tonneau cover.

Although Rivian has not disclosed production numbers, the California Dune Edition is classified as a limited-run model. Orders are open now, with the R1T version starting at $99,900 and the R1S at $105,900.
