Porsche 911 Dakar Returns as a Hybrid Beast with More Power and Tech!
The Porsche 911 Dakar is set to make a comeback as a hybrid, with reports suggesting a release by the end of 2025. According to Autocar, the second-generation 911 Dakar will feature Porsche’s new ‘T-Hybrid’ powertrain from the latest 911 GTS, making it the first electrified version of the off-road sports car.
This hybrid system pairs a 3.6-litre twin-turbo flat-six engine with electric assistance, delivering 398kW and 610Nm. Beyond boosting power and efficiency, electrification is expected to enhance the Dakar’s off-road capabilities, providing improved torque vectoring, better traction control, and a broader torque band.
Development is reportedly taking place at Porsche’s Weissach engineering centre, though the company has yet to confirm any details. Given the high demand for the original 911 Dakar and the competitive nature of the performance car industry, it would make sense for Porsche to bring back the model with upgraded technology.
Limited production is expected once again, following the first-generation Dakar’s 2500-unit run—of which only 16 made it to Australia.

However, recent reports suggest that the rugged 911 Dakar is set to return as part of the refreshed 992-generation lineup, now featuring a hybrid powertrain.
