Popular Street Food Shawarma Turns Deadly!
Two vendors in Mumbai have been apprehended by the police after a 19-year-old man died subsequent to consuming ‘chicken shawarma’ purchased from their stall, according to an official statement. The victim, identified as Prathamesh Bhokse, procured the food from the accused vendors’ stall situated in the Trombay area on May 3. Experiencing severe stomach pain and vomiting on May 4, Bhokse sought medical attention at a nearby municipal hospital.
Despite being treated by a doctor, he continued to feel unwell upon returning home, prompting his family to rush him to the KEM Hospital on May 5. Tragically, Bhokse passed away, leading to the arrest of the vendors by the Trombay police.
Hospitalization & FIR Filed
As the man’s health worsened the following day, he was once again brought to the hospital where he underwent examination by a doctor. Subsequently, he was admitted for further treatment. Upon observing the gravity of the situation, the hospital authorities opted to escalate the matter to the police.
An FIR was lodged against unidentified individuals under sections 336 (pertaining to actions endangering the lives or safety of others) and 273 (related to the sale of harmful food or drink) of the Indian Penal Code, as per the official’s statement.
