Supreme Court Rejects Patanjali’s E-Apologies
During the Supreme Court hearing on Tuesday, lasting about ninety minutes, Ramdev and Balkrishna made their fifth appearance before Justice Hima Kohli and Justice Ahsanuddin Amanullah. Representing Patanjali were Mukul Rohatgi and Balbir Singh, while Dhruv Mehta stood for the Uttarakhand government. The Indian Medical Association (IMA) was also present.
At the outset, the court criticized Patanjali’s lawyer for submitting e-files instead of the required physical copies of apologies from newspapers. The court highlighted a significant communication lapse in this regard.
The court expressed strong objection, suggesting that Patanjali’s lawyers intentionally chose to submit e-files, implying a strategic move. They emphasized the necessity of filing complete newspaper copies. Additionally, the court chastised the Uttarakhand government for its delayed action against Patanjali and directed them to document the interview provided by the IMA chief the previous day.
