- To protect students from the scorching heat, Odisha officials moved up the start of summer break. Schools across the state will now close starting April 25th.
- Citing the severe heatwave, the Odisha government declared an early summer vacation for students. All schools will be closed from April 25th onwards.

Odisha School News today : To provide some relief from the heatwave, schools in Odisha will implement a short schedule for three days, from April 22nd to 24th. Classes will be held in the mornings only, starting at 6.30 am and ending at 10.30 am.

- Due to a brutal heatwave that brought scorching temperatures exceeding 45 degrees Celsius, Odisha temporarily closed all schools for three days, starting April 18th.
Highest temperature in Jharsuguda and Keonjhar:
- It was scorching hot in Jharsuguda and Keonjhar on Sunday! By 2:30 pm, the temperature had already reached a sizzling 43.6 degrees Celsius.
Temperatures in other Odisha locations:
- It wasn’t just Jharsuguda and Keonjhar feeling the heat! Six other locations in Odisha also sweltered with temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius.
- While Jharsuguda and Keonjhar were the hottest, six other places in Odisha weren’t far behind, with highs above 40 degrees Celsius.
- The heatwave extended to other parts of Odisha, with Hirakud, Rourkela, Sambalpur, Bhubaneswar, Chandbali, and Balasore recording temperatures above 40°C, as per IMD scientist Umashankar Das.
