Nothing Phone 3a Series Design Revealed: New Camera Setup & AI Button Unveiled!

Nothing has revealed the design of an upcoming Phone 3a series smartphone ahead of its March 4 launch. The device follows the Phone 2a’s design with a transparent back, Glyph lighting, and a horizontal camera bar. A key upgrade is the addition of a third camera sensor, likely a telephoto lens. The Phone 3a Pro, in contrast, features a circular camera module with a periscope telephoto lens. Both models include a new AI-focused button for features like text summarization. Powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3, they sport a 6.72-inch 120Hz AMOLED display. At least one model will offer a 50MP periscope telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom.

British consumer tech brand Nothing has revealed the design of an upcoming smartphone in the Phone 3a series ahead of its official launch on March 4. In a post on X, the company shared an image showcasing the device, which retains the design language of last year’s Phone 2a, featuring a horizontal camera bar similar to Google’s Pixel phones. While the official name remains unconfirmed, this model is expected to be the standard variant in the Phone 3a series, which is also rumored to include a Pro version.

Nothing Phone 3a Series: Design

The newly revealed Phone 3a series smartphone continues Nothing’s signature aesthetic, sporting a transparent back panel, the brand’s signature Glyph lighting interface, and a centrally aligned horizontal camera bar. A key change is the inclusion of a third camera sensor, likely a telephoto lens. Additionally, subtle modifications have been made to the design, including changes to the camera ring surrounding the lenses and adjustments to the internal component layout, which remains visible through the transparent back.

This design differs from the previously revealed Phone 3a Pro, which features a circular camera module that protrudes noticeably—potentially to accommodate a periscope telephoto camera. The Pro model’s camera setup includes a centrally placed telephoto lens, while the other two sensors are positioned vertically on the left.

Another notable addition in both Phone 3a models is an extra button on the side, positioned below the power button. This new button is expected to integrate AI-powered functionalities such as text summarization and audio transcription. Additionally, it may enable quick voice commands, real-time language translation, smart notifications, and AI-assisted photo editing. Nothing could also introduce context-aware suggestions, making interactions more seamless and enhancing productivity through on-device AI processing.

Nothing Phone 3a Series: Expected Features

The Phone 3a series is expected to include two models: The Phone 3a and the Phone 3a Pro are both anticipated to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 processor and feature a 6.72-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The display is expected to support HDR10+ for enhanced color accuracy and contrast. Additionally, the devices may include up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, along with a 5000mAh battery supporting 45W fast charging for extended performance and quick power-ups.

On the camera front, Nothing has confirmed that at least one model will feature a 50MP periscope telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and 6x in-sensor zoom. Software enhancements will support up to 60x digital zoom and introduce a 70mm focal length mode for portrait photography. The primary camera is also expected to be a 50MP sensor, capable of capturing 64% more light for improved depth and image clarity. Additionally, all four cameras—including the front-facing camera—will support Ultra HDR photos and 4K video recording.
