This event, organized by legal services authorities across the country under the guidance of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) and led by Justice Sanjiv Khanna, aims to alleviate the burden on traditional court systems by providing a platform for litigants to resolve disputes amicably.
The previous National Lok Adalats held in 2021, 2022, 2023, and the first one of 2024 have demonstrated significant success. In 2023 alone, a remarkable 810.30 lakhs cases were settled, while the first Lok Adalat of 2024 saw the resolution of 171.41 lakhs cases.
These statistics underscore the effectiveness of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms in alleviating the backlog of cases.

The second National Lok Adalat scheduled for May 11, 2024, will be held in 20 States/Union Territories: Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Chandigarh, Delhi, Goa, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Lakshadweep, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, Punjab, Sikkim, Tripura, and Uttarakhand. In the remaining states, the event will be organized after the Lok Sabha Elections.
