Nainital News: Forest Fire Battled by Air Force Helicopter Using Bhimtal Lake Water; CM Conducts Aerial Survey
A massive forest fire is raging across Kumaon, Uttarakhand. Despite efforts by the forest department, the blaze continues to spread. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami surveyed the fire damage in Nainital by air and vowed to crack down on those who start these fires illegally. He assured everyone that fire control efforts are ongoing.
Nainital News : CM Pushkar Singh Dhami, who arrived in Haldwani, convened a review meeting with officials at FTI to discuss forest fire prevention and the drinking water system. Present at the meeting were the Kumaon Commissioner, officials from the Forest Department, and others. Additionally, officials from Almora, Champawat, and other districts participated virtually.

Nainital News – In an effort to combat the blaze engulfing Kumaon’s forests, an Air Force helicopter began dousing the flames with water collected from Bhimtal Lake since Saturday. On Saturday morning, the helicopter made multiple rounds, fetching water from the lake and showering it on the fire-stricken areas of Nainital’s forests.

Nainital News – Forest Range Officer Vijay Melkani confirmed the involvement of the Air Force helicopter in extinguishing the fire. He added that the helicopter has taken three trips so far, collecting water from the lake and discharging it on the inferno. Melkani also highlighted the participation of forest department personnel alongside the aerial firefighting efforts. Unfortunately, the fire has caused significant damage to the forest cover in Bhimtal, Pines, Ranibagh, Sattal, Betalghat, and Ramgarh.
