Maruti Suzuki India Limited has introduced the latest iteration of its Swift model, aiming to strengthen its presence in the superhatch category. Priced from Rs 6.49 lakh onwards (excluding showroom costs), the fourth generation Epic New Swift is set to hit the Indian market on May 9, 2024, where it will compete directly with Hyundai’s Grand i20.

Interested buyers can already reserve their Swift by paying a booking amount of Rs 11,000 at Maruti Suzuki dealerships nationwide. The company has received 10,000 pre-bookings and plans to allocate 30,000 units for exports, with deliveries expected to commence in June.

Maruti Suzuki India Limited has announced that the new Swift will also be available for monthly subscription at a rate of Rs 17,436. Hisashi Takeuchi, MD & CEO of MSIL, shared during the unveiling of the updated Swift that the company has invested Rs 1,450 crore in its development.

Takeuchi highlighted that out of the global total of 6 million Swifts, 3 million are in India, making it the largest market for this model. He also emphasized that the hatchback segment accounts for roughly 28% of total passenger vehicle sales in India, with premium hatchbacks contributing about 60% of this segment.

According to Takeuchi, the new Swift is equipped with the latest Z-Series engine, delivering enhanced fuel efficiency. Additionally, the vehicle boasts six airbags, and seat belts are provided for all seats as standard safety features.
