Kia Carnival prices hiked due to CBU import
Kia India has introduced the fourth-generation Carnival at an ex-showroom price of ₹63.90 lakh, which marks a significant price increase compared to the previous generation that had a top-tier model priced at ₹35.50 lakh. This hike is attributed to the new model being imported as a Completely Built Unit (CBU). Kia has already secured 2,796 bookings for the new Carnival, which is offered exclusively as a 7-seater Limousine variant.
The new Carnival features automatic LED projector headlamps, LED DRLs, 18-inch alloy wheels, and a dual electric sunroof. The rear showcases LED tail lamps connected by a light bar. Inside, it has a two-tone interior, a 12.3-inch driver display, a 12.3-inch infotainment system, a 12-speaker Bose audio setup, and an 11-inch head-up display.
The front-row seats are power-adjustable, with the driver seat offering 12-way adjustment and the passenger seat 8-way, both featuring heating and ventilation. Additional highlights include shift-by-wire technology, 64-color ambient lighting, rain-sensing wipers, and a push-button start/stop system.
Carnival: Luxury, safety, and performance
The second row of the Kia Carnival offers sliding and reclining seats with leg support, heating, and ventilation. It also comes equipped with roof-mounted AC vents, sunshades for all windows, and electrically sliding doors.
For safety, the Carnival includes 8 airbags, Level 2 ADAS features, ABS with EBD, ESC, and hill-assist control.
Under the hood, it is powered by a 2.2-liter, 4-cylinder diesel engine producing 193 hp and 441 Nm of peak torque, paired with an 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission. Kia is also offering a package with 3 years of free maintenance, warranty, and roadside assistance benefits.
Kia launches EV9 and Carnival
On October 3, Kia India launched its flagship electric SUV, the EV9, priced at ₹1.3 crore. This ultra-premium EV, first showcased at Auto Expo 2023, is equipped with a 99.8 kWh lithium-ion battery pack.
In addition, Kia introduced the new Carnival at ₹63.90 lakh, offering a single 7-seater variant. The fourth-generation Carnival retains the 2.2-litre diesel engine, producing approximately 190 bhp and 441 Nm of torque.
Both the EV9 and Carnival will be imported into India as Completely Built Units (CBU), with plans to switch to the Completely Knocked Down (CKD) route for the Carnival by mid-2025.
