Yechury critical, on respiratory support at AIIMS

CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury remains in a critical state and is still on respiratory support at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi. The 72-year-old leader, who was admitted to the ICU on August 19 due to an acute respiratory tract infection, has shown no significant improvement. A multi-disciplinary team of doctors continues to closely monitor his condition, but his health remains critical despite intensive care.

There have been no further updates from either the hospital or the CPI(M) party since the last statement. Yechury’s condition is being carefully monitored, with the medical team working diligently to aid his recovery. In a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), the Communist Party of India (Marxist) stated, “Comrade Sitaram Yechury, General Secretary of CPI(M), is receiving treatment for an acute respiratory tract infection in the ICU at AIIMS, New Delhi.”

Messages of support and recovery wishes flow

Meanwhile, messages of concern and well-wishes continue to flow from both political leaders and the public. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin expressed his hopes for Yechury’s swift recovery, reflecting the broad support for the veteran leader. On August 22, Yechury shared a six-minute video on X (formerly Twitter), where he spoke about the passing of former West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadev Bhattacharya.
