EV Revolution Hits Indian Railways

Indian Railways and IRCTC have introduced measures to enhance passenger convenience, including initiatives like the pick and drop service at railway stations. Furthermore, they are now preparing to offer EV charging facilities within station premises.

This move aims to reduce costs for passengers availing of pick and drop services, benefiting those using specific types of vehicles. These initiatives are expected to alleviate travel expenses and improve overall passenger experience.

Green charging, convenient journeys

Indian Railways, as reported by News 18, plans to install electric vehicle (EV) charging points at two key stations in the Agra division of Northern Railway. The initiative will begin at Agra Cantonment and Mathura Junction railway stations with the goal of providing convenience to passengers arriving to pick up or drop off friends and relatives.

These charging points will enable passengers to easily charge their electric vehicles (EVs) within the station premises, ensuring hassle-free operations.

By offering 24×7 operational EV charging facilities, the stations aim to support increased adoption of electric vehicles, thereby contributing to reduced pollution levels. Indian Railways’ objective with this initiative extends beyond ticket revenues, aiming to generate additional income while promoting environmental sustainability.

Eco-friendly rides, lower costs

The EV charging facilities at these stations will offer lower costs compared to market rates, benefiting the public and promoting environmental conservation. This initiative by Indian Railways will particularly support commuters traveling to and from Agra Cantonment and Mathura Junction railway stations.
