Eligible Airdrie Families to Receive Up to $7787 in Canada Child Benefit Payments by Week’s End
Eligible parents in Airdrie will receive their Canada Child Benefit (CCB) payments by the end of this week. The CCB, administered by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), provides tax-free monthly payments to support families with the costs of raising children.
The amount families receive is based on their adjusted family net income (AFNI), the number of children, and their ages. For the July 2024 to June 2025 payment period, the maximum annual amount is $7,787 for each child under six and $6,570 for children aged six to 17. Payments gradually decrease for families with an AFNI above $36,502, with annual adjustments based on the previous year’s tax return.
To qualify for the CCB, applicants must live with a child under 18 and be primarily responsible for their care. Additionally, the applicant, their spouse, or common-law partner must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or protected person. Temporary residents who have lived in Canada for at least 18 months may also be eligible. However, foster children are excluded when Children’s Special Allowances (CSA) are paid.
In cases of shared custody, each parent receives 50 percent of the benefit they would have received with full custody, calculated based on their AFNI. Some provinces and territories offer additional financial support, either combined with the CCB or paid separately.
Families should also be aware of the Alberta Child and Family Benefit (ACFB), also handled by the CRA on behalf of Alberta’s government. ACFB payments will be issued next month.
Eligible recipients should expect their CCB within five working days of the payment date. The final CCB payments for 2024 will be made on November 20 and December 13. Other benefits, including the Canada Carbon Rebate (CCR) and the GST/HST credit, were issued earlier, making this the last payment date of the year.
