DMart’s Profit Soars 5.77% in Q2 Avenue Supermarts Ltd, the parent company of the D-Mart retail chain, announced a consolidated net profit of Rs 659.44 crore for the second quarter ending September 2024, marking a 5.78% increase from Rs 623.35 crore reported in the same period last year, as stated in a regulatory filing. Additionally, the company’s revenue from operations grew by 14.41% to reach Rs 14,444.50 crore during this quarter.
Avenue Supermarts Ltd, the operator of DMart, reported a 5.77% increase in consolidated net profit for the July to September quarter, reaching Rs 659.58 crore compared to Rs 623.56 crore in the same quarter last year.
The company also experienced a 14.4% rise in revenue, totaling Rs 14,444.50 crore in Q2FY25, up from Rs 12,624.37 crore in the previous year. According to the consolidated financial report submitted to the exchanges on October 12, DMart’s earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) for Q2FY25 were Rs 1,094 crore, an increase from Rs 1,005 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. The EBITDA margin for Q2FY25 was 7.6%, down from 8% in Q2FY24.

For the first half of FY25, Avenue Supermarts reported total revenue of Rs 28,514 crore, up from Rs 24,490 crore in the same period last year. EBITDA for H1FY25 was Rs 2,315 crore, compared to Rs 2,040 crore in H1FY24, with an EBITDA margin of 8.1% in H1FY25, slightly down from 8.3% in H1FY24. The consolidated net profit for H1FY25 was Rs 1,433 crore, compared to Rs 1,282 crore in H1FY24, with a PAT margin of 5.0% in H1FY25, down from 5.2% in H1FY24. The basic EPS for H1FY25 was Rs 22.03, compared to Rs 19.72 for H1FY24.

As of June 30, 2024, it operated 371 stores with a retail business area of 15.40 million square feet across various states, including Maharashtra, Gujarat, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, NCR, Chhattisgarh, and Daman.

Avenue Supermarts’ total expenses for the September quarter rose by 14.94% to Rs 13,574.83 crore. The total income, including other income, increased by 14.34% to Rs 14,478.02 crore. During this quarter, D-Mart opened six new stores, bringing its total to 377 as of September 30, 2024.
Neville Noronha, CEO and Managing Director of Avenue Supermarts, stated, “Overall, the like-for-like revenue growth for H1 FY 2025 was 7.4% for stores that are two years old and older.
