Lawsuit Over Vaccine Death
AstraZeneca, the biggest vaccine maker, admitted that their COVID-19 vaccine could sometimes lead to blood clots, which are rare.
Now, an Indian couple wants to take legal action against them and the Indian company, Serum Institute of India, because they believe their daughter died after getting the vaccine in 2021.
This vaccine, known as Covishield in India, was made in collaboration with Oxford University. People are suing because they say the vaccine caused deaths and serious issues like low blood platelet count and blood clots.
Father Blames Vaccine Death on Failures
Venugopalan Govindan, the father of the girl, expressed his frustration on X by saying, “AstraZeneca’s admission about the vaccine’s risks comes too late, after many lives have been lost.”
He blames the Serum Institute of India, the government for promoting the vaccine as safe without enough proof, and regulatory bodies for approving it despite knowing about the risks. He believes they are all responsible for his daughter’s death and many others who died after taking the vaccine.
Missed Warnings, Lost Lives
He also said that both the government and Serum Institute were informed as early as February 2021 by Mr. Dilip Lunawat about his daughter’s death from vaccine complications on March 1st.
If they had acted promptly like the European government, neither his daughter nor the other 7 victims who died later that year would have lost their lives.
Fight for Justice Continues
Govindan also said, “If we don’t get proper justice and ensure this doesn’t happen again in the name of public health, we’ll file new cases against anyone responsible for our children’s deaths. Eight families affected have come together, and I’m speaking for all of us.”
