Among the victims were six UNRWA staff members, including the manager of the shelter, marking the highest number of staff casualties in a single incident during the 11-month conflict. Hamas has expressed its readiness to accept a US-proposed, UN-backed truce proposal without any additional conditions from either side.

In Israel’s conflict with Gaza, at least 41,084 people have been killed and 95,029 injured. In Israel, the death toll from Hamas-led attacks on October 7 has reached at least 1,139, and more than 200 individuals have been taken captive.

The hospital in Deir el-Balah, where victims of the attack on the UN-operated al-Jaouni school have been taken, is in a state of chaos. People are mourning their loved ones who have been declared dead at the hospital. One critically injured person was even removed from the hospital to say goodbye to family members who perished in the attack, creating a deeply emotional scene.

This isn’t the first instance of UN-run evacuation centers being targeted. These facilities are marked and their coordinates are shared with the Israeli military, and they are known to serve as shelters for displaced families. Despite the UN’s blue and white markings, they have not been spared from attacks.

He posted on X, “This week: 19 people were killed and many injured in a strike on a ‘humanitarian zone’ in Gaza, an American was shot in the head in the West Bank, and another school was bombed, resulting in 14 deaths, including 6 UN aid workers.”

Sanders added, “Enough is enough. Stop funding Netanyahu’s war machine.”
