Bajaj Auto has unveiled the world’s first Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) powered motorcycle, named ‘Freedom 125’. The launch event, held in Pune on July 5, featured the introduction by Bajaj Auto MD Rajeev Bajaj and was attended by Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari.

Initially, this eco-friendly two-wheeler will be available only in Maharashtra and Gujarat, with plans to expand to other states later. During the launch, Rajiv Bajaj urged the Central Government to reduce the Goods and Services Tax (GST) rates on environmentally friendly vehicles to promote their adoption.

Bajaj offers CNG motorcycle for low fuel cost

Bajaj Auto has introduced the Freedom 125 CNG bike in three variants: Awe Drum, Drum LED, and Disc LED. Priced between Rs. 95,000 and Rs. 1,10,000 (ex-showroom), these models can be booked at authorized Bajaj showrooms and on the company’s official website.

Available in five colors, the bikes feature dual fuel tanks—one for CNG and one for petrol—with separate switches for each fuel. Bajaj claims that switching between fuels is easy and that when both tanks are full, the bike can travel up to 330 kilometers.

Bajaj asserts that the Freedom 125 can reduce fuel costs by up to 50%. Using CNG, the cost per kilometer is halved compared to petrol-only bikes.

Over five years, Freedom 125 owners can save up to Rs. 75,000 compared to other 125cc bike riders. Bajaj Auto ED Rakesh Sharma noted that more than 75% of two-wheeler customers are concerned about petrol costs, and the Freedom 125 is designed to address this concern.

Bajaj CNG bike: Budget friendly, long range

The Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG bike comes in three variants:

– The base model, Drum, is priced at Rs. 95,000.
– The mid-tier Drum LED model costs Rs. 1,05,000.
– The top-end Disc LED variant is available for Rs. 1,10,000.

Bajaj’s CNG Bike Travels 330km on a SINGLE Tank! The bike delivers a mileage of 102 km per kg of CNG, with a full tank (2 kg cylinder) allowing for approximately 200 kilometers of travel. If the CNG runs out, the bike can switch to petrol, thanks to its 2-liter petrol tank, which provides an additional range of over 130 kilometers.

Available in five colors—Ebony Black, Caribbean Blue, Cyber White, Racing Red, and Pewter Grey—the bike features a round LED headlamp, an LCD instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity, a 125cc engine, telescopic forks, and an effective braking system.
