Apple’s Next Big Move: AI-Powered Vision Pro Upgrades and a Tabletop Robot

Apple is reportedly introducing Apple Intelligence to the Vision Pro, along with a spatial content app and enhanced guest mode. Additionally, the company is exploring humanoid and non-humanoid robotics, including a Pixar-inspired tabletop robot with AI and Siri integration. However, these robotics projects remain in early development and may not launch until 2028.

Apple to Bring AI Features and Spatial Content App to Vision Pro

Apple is reportedly preparing to introduce Apple Intelligence to its Vision Pro headset, along with an improved guest mode and a spatial content app, according to Bloomberg News. These updates are expected to arrive as part of a software update, potentially launching in beta for developers as early as this week.

The tech giant has been working to integrate AI capabilities into its devices to stay competitive. Previous reports indicated that Apple is in discussions with Tencent and ByteDance to incorporate their AI models into iPhones sold in China.

Priced at $3,499 in the U.S., the Vision Pro could soon support Apple Intelligence features such as Writing Tools, Genmojis, and the Image Playground app. The move comes as Apple looks to boost sales of the headset, which saw strong initial interest but has faced challenges due to its high cost and competition from more affordable alternatives like Meta’s Quest lineup.

Apple to Add AI Features, Guest Mode, and Spatial Content App to Vision Pro

Apple is reportedly preparing to introduce Apple Intelligence to its Vision Pro headset, along with an enhanced guest mode and a spatial content app as early as April, according to Bloomberg News. The update will be part of a software upgrade, with a beta version potentially available to developers as soon as this week, the report stated, citing sources familiar with the matter.

Should Apple Build a Humanoid Robot? Make It Steve Jobs

I’m skeptical that Apple is seriously investing in humanoid robotics, but if the rumors are true and the company is tackling the complexities of actuators, servos, energy efficiency, and battery limitations, I have one wish: let it resemble and behave like Steve Jobs.

Jobs, who passed away over a decade ago, remains an industry icon and a symbol of Apple’s innovation. While Tim Cook is a skilled CEO and supply chain strategist, Jobs had an unmatched visionary presence.

The idea of Apple entering the humanoid robotics space may seem far-fetched. Despite the growing number of companies developing consumer and industrial humanoid robots, creating a truly functional one is no easy feat. Honda’s Asimo, which demonstrated agility and intelligence, took years to develop before being discontinued. More recent efforts from companies like Unitree, Figure 01, and 1X Neo Beta claim to bring humanoid robots into homes, but the technology isn’t quite there yet.

Apple certainly has expertise in technology, as seen in the Vision Pro and Apple Silicon, but it lacks a track record in robotics. Many companies have attempted humanoid robots, only to pivot to more practical applications—iRobot, for instance, started with a robot baby before shifting focus to utility robots like the Roomba.

Ming-Chi Kuo recently reignited speculation by stating that Apple is exploring both humanoid and non-humanoid robots for its smart home ecosystem, though the latter seems more plausible. Apple is reportedly working on a robotic home hub that integrates a HomePod, iPad-style display, and a moving armature—an interactive device capable of responding to user commands, playing media, and mimicking emotional engagement.

If Apple is indeed developing a humanoid robot, it should make it distinctive. A partnership with Hanson Robotics (the creators of Sophia) could allow them to design a robot with Jobs’ likeness—black turtleneck, jeans, and white sneakers included. Better yet, they could program it with his personality—direct, opinionated, and relentlessly innovative.

If Apple ever builds a humanoid robot, that’s the one it should create. But for now, it remains just a fascinating idea.

Apple Reportedly Developing Tabletop Robot with AI and Siri Integration

Apple is reportedly developing both humanoid and non-humanoid robots as part of its next-generation smart home ecosystem. According to renowned supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the company is working on a tabletop robot that aims to be more interactive than traditional home robotics.

Kuo’s insights align with earlier reports from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who claimed Apple is prototyping a lamp-like robotic device featuring fluid, lifelike movements. This Pixar-inspired tabletop robot is expected to have an iPad-style display mounted on a robotic arm, enabling it to adjust its screen position dynamically based on user needs.

The device may also support custom voice commands and facial recognition, allowing it to differentiate between household members and assist with tasks like FaceTime calls. However, Kuo emphasized that the project is still in its proof-of-concept stage, and if Apple decides to bring it to market, it may not launch until 2028.
