AMD’s upcoming Zen 5-based Ryzen 9000-series processors are generating excitement ahead of their launch later this month. Recently leaked from Slovenian retailer Funtech, the prices for these processors seem promising.

The flagship Ryzen 9 9950X, featuring 16 cores and 32 threads with speeds up to 5.7GHz, is listed at €659.90 (about $708), a notable decrease from its expected €824.88 ($886) MSRP. This pricing places it competitively against the previous generation Ryzen 9 7950X3D, which had a $699 MSRP.

The Ryzen 9 9900X, with 12 cores and 24 threads clocked up to 5.6GHz, offers even greater value at €499.90 (approximately $537). This is significantly lower than the launch price of its Zen 4 predecessor, the Ryzen 7 7900X, which was €669 in Europe.

These price reductions suggest AMD is aiming to deliver high-performance CPUs at more accessible price points, potentially making them appealing upgrades for current AM5 platform users.

The leaked details continue with the Ryzen 7 9700X, an 8-core, 16-thread processor capable of up to 5.5GHz, equipped with 32MB of L3 cache, and a 65W TDP. Priced at €399.90 (approximately $429), it undercuts the launch price of its Zen 4 predecessor, the Ryzen 7 7700X, which was €479 in Europe.

Moving down the lineup, the Ryzen 5 9600X features six cores and 12 threads, boosting up to 5.4GHz, with 32MB of L3 cache and a 65W TDP. It’s listed at €309.90 (around $332), compared to the €359 launch price of the Ryzen 5 7600X.

These leaked prices suggest AMD is aiming to offer competitive pricing across its Ryzen 9000 series, potentially making them attractive options for different segments of users.

It’s worth noting that these prices should be taken cautiously as they may be placeholders, and the final costs, especially in Europe where VAT isn’t typically included in listed prices, could differ. AMD’s official announcement of the Ryzen 9000 series at Computex 2024 highlighted their compatibility with AM5 sockets, along with support for DDR5 and PCIe 5.0 technologies.

While specific details on the Zen 5 architecture are yet to be fully disclosed, it promises significant performance enhancements over its predecessor, with a reported 16% IPC improvement based on a geometric mean.
