Aero India 2025: HAL Unveils AMCA & LUH, IAF’s Hindustan Aeronautics Limited’s (HAL) Light Utility Helicopter (LUH), which only participated in a flypast during the previous edition, is set to take center stage at the 15th edition of Aero India, commencing on February 10. Additionally, a full-scale model of the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA), India’s ambitious fifth-generation fighter jet project, is expected to attract significant attention.

During Aero India rehearsals on Thursday, spectators got an early glimpse of the LUH as it performed a solo aerial display. For the first time, HAL will also exhibit a 1:1 model of the AMCA, whereas in 2023, only a scaled-down version was showcased. HAL will present its indigenous innovations under the theme “Innovate. Collaborate. Lead.”

“Alongside the indigenously designed and developed LUH, HAL’s R&D division will highlight various groundbreaking advancements in avionics, mechanical systems, engines, and aerospace technologies for both manned and unmanned aircraft,” HAL Chairman & Managing Director DK Sunil stated.

At its indoor pavilion, HAL’s key exhibits will include the LUH, a Hindustan Turbo Trainer (HTT)-40 simulator, and scaled models of aircraft such as the LCA Mk1A fighter, LCA Mk1 Trainer, Hindustan Jet Trainer (HJT)-36, HTT-40, Light Combat Helicopter (LCH), and Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) Mk IV. Additionally, HAL will showcase scaled models of the Hindustan 228 and its amphibian variant.

The flying demonstrations will feature an exclusive LCA Mk1A formation, along with the HJT-36, HTT-40, and LUH. The overarching theme of the India Pavilion this year is “Flight of Self-Reliance.”

A full-scale functional engineering demonstrator of the Combat Air Teaming System (CATS) Warrior will be a major attraction at the India Pavilion, alongside the Advanced Light Helicopter Next Generation (ALH NG) and the Rotary Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (RUAV). The ALH NG will be prominently displayed outside the India Pavilion, marking HAL’s entry into the civil aviation sector.

Inside the pavilion, HAL will exhibit cutting-edge avionics, including a mission management system, digital map generator, data link communication system, and indigenous communication complex with audio management features. Advanced flight control actuators, electromechanical systems, and static models of HTSE-1200 and GTEG-60 engines will also be on display, highlighting the technological challenges and innovations involved.

A dedicated space technology section will feature scaled models of the CE-20 cryogenic engine, GSLV-Mk3 rocket, and Chandrayaan-3, showcasing HAL’s contributions to India’s space programs.
