4 Bank Holidays This July: State-Specific Closures

Today, July 27, is the fourth Saturday of the month, and as a result, all banks in India, including both public and private ones like the State Bank of India (SBI), are closed. Indian banks are closed on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month, as well as on all Sundays. Additionally, banks observe holidays for various religious and regional celebrations throughout the month. In July, banks had a total of 12 holidays, including weekends and local festivities.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) collaborates with state governments to create an annual holiday schedule for banks, considering national and local events, operational requirements, religious celebrations, and other cultural observances. The central bank announces this schedule through its official website and notifications to banks and other financial institutions.

Check local bank for holidays

If you have urgent needs, banks will continue to provide online and mobile banking services through their websites and apps, even on weekends and during holidays, unless there are specific system or security issues. You can also use ATMs for cash withdrawals.

Bank holidays can vary by state due to regional requirements. Therefore, it is advisable to check with your nearest bank branch to get the complete list of holidays, helping you plan better and avoid last-minute confusion and emergencies.
