Under the National Food Security Act of 2013, ration cards (eligibility slips) must be issued to eligible unorganized and migrant workers nationwide within the next two months. In Khargone district, this initiative has been communicated to the relevant sub-divisional officers in a meeting chaired by District Collector Karmveer Sharma.

The District Supply Officer and Labor Department presented the information through a PowerPoint presentation. During the meeting, Collector Sharma instructed that the campaign be completed within the designated timeframe.

According to data from the e-Shramik portal, 49,478 families in the district need to be surveyed to identify eligible and ineligible families. Separate lists will be prepared for those who have already been issued slips and those who have not, despite being eligible.

Eligible families must provide documents from one of 27 categories for verification through the M Ration Mitra portal, with the local Panchayat or Urban body responsible for the verification process.

Surveys by panchayat & municipality workers

For this initiative, rural area surveys must be verified by the employment assistant or mobilizer of the Gram Panchayat, as well as the Anganwadi worker. In urban areas, a ward-level survey team, including the ward in-charge and Anganwadi worker, will conduct the survey. The entire campaign will be overseen by the Sub-Divisional Officer (Revenue).

The Chief Executive Officer will act as the nodal officer for block areas, while the Chief Municipal Officer will fulfill this role in urban areas. Additionally, the Labor Inspector and Junior Supply Officer will serve as assistant nodal officers in urban and rural areas, respectively. The District Nodal Officer for this campaign will be the Labor Officer.
