India asserted the OIC has no legitimate standing (“locus standi”) to comment on its internal affairs, particularly Jammu and Kashmir, which it considers an integral part of the nation. New Delhi accused Pakistan of hijacking the OIC platform to spread propaganda, while condemning the bloc’s persistent failure to acknowledge Pakistan’s documented role in sponsoring terrorism, evidenced by recent attacks like Pahalgam.

New Delhi, June 24, 2025 – India launched a blistering diplomatic counteroffensive against the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Monday, accusing the 57-member bloc of peddling “unwarranted,” “factually incorrect,” and Pakistan-driven narratives about India’s internal affairs and security situation. 

The sharp response from India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) came after the OIC’s Council of Foreign Ministers, meeting in Türkiye, issued statements criticizing India on several fronts. These included concerns over the “social marginalisation” of Indian Muslims, calls for adherence to bilateral pacts like the Indus Waters Treaty, and an emphasis on dialogue to resolve the Kashmir dispute. 

India’s Core Rebuttals: 

• Rejection of Locus Standi: The MEA categorically dismissed the OIC’s right to comment on India’s internal matters, specifically Jammu and Kashmir. “The OIC has no locus standi to comment on India’s internal affairs, including Jammu and Kashmir, which is an integral and sovereign part of India — a fact enshrined in the Indian Constitution and irreversibly settled,” the statement asserted. 

• Accusation of Pakistani Influence: India directly attributed the OIC’s stance to Pakistani manipulation. “These statements, driven by Pakistan, which has turned terrorism into statecraft, reflect the continued misuse of the OIC platform for narrow political ends,” the MEA declared. 

• Condemnation of Ignoring Terrorism: New Delhi expressed deep frustration with the OIC’s perceived refusal to acknowledge Pakistan’s role in fostering terrorism. The MEA stated the OIC’s “repeated failure” to recognize the “real and documented threat of terrorism emanating from Pakistan,” highlighted recently by the “heinous Pahalgam attack,” demonstrates a “wilful disregard for facts.” 

• Defense of Operation Sindoor: India staunchly defended its recent military action (“Operation Sindoor“) as a “precise and legitimate act of self-defence” targeting terror camps in Pakistan following the Pahalgam attack. It rejected Pakistani allegations of “unprovoked and unjustified military aggression,” calling them baseless. The MEA further criticized Pakistan’s retaliatory attempts as reckless, endangering civilians and causing casualties. 

• Hypocrisy Charge: The statement delivered a scathing critique of Pakistan’s credibility on human rights and counter-terrorism. “It is ironic that Pakistan, a country with an abysmal human rights record and a history of sheltering, breeding, and empowering terrorists, should lecture others… Pakistan’s comments are nothing more than a desperate attempt to deflect international attention from its own appalling record,” the MEA concluded. 

The OIC’s Position & India’s Strategic Concern: 

The OIC’s communiqué represented a continuation of its long-standing position advocating for Pakistan on the Kashmir issue and urging dialogue. However, India perceives this stance as fundamentally flawed, arguing it ignores the ground reality of Pakistan’s alleged use of cross-border terrorism as a tool of state policy against India.
