The attacks, which targeted the southern city of Khan Younis, struck tents sheltering displaced families, underscoring the perilous conditions faced by civilians after 19 months of conflict.  

Families Lost in Tent Strikes 

Two separate strikes on makeshift tents in Khan Younis claimed the lives of two children and their parents in each incident, while a third attack killed another child and injured seven others. The Nasser Hospital confirmed receiving the bodies, highlighting the recurring toll on non-combatants. The Israeli military reiterated its position that it targets Hamas militants and accuses the group of embedding within civilian areas, though no immediate comment was provided on these specific strikes.  

War’s Relentless Toll and Displacement 

The conflict, triggered by Hamas’ October 2023 attack on southern Israel that killed 1,200 people and took 251 hostages, has displaced approximately 90% of Gaza’s 2.3 million residents. Israel’s subsequent siege and military campaign have drawn global condemnation, with Gaza’s Hamas-run Health Ministry reporting over 52,000 deaths—predominantly women and children—though the figures do not distinguish between civilians and combatants.
