4 HUGE Changes Coming to Your Citi Card (You Need to Know 3!)
Starting July 15, 2024, Citi’s credit card portfolio officially moves to Axis Bank, with Citi cardholders continuing to use their existing Citi-branded cards until they receive new Axis Bank cards. The transition includes renaming Citi credit cards under Axis Bank, along with revised benefits and reward structures. Credit limits will now be combined across Citi and Axis Bank credit cards. While card numbers, PINs, expiry dates, and CVVs remain unchanged, existing balances, EMIs, billing cycles, and fee waivers will continue as before.
However, payment management will shift from Citibank to Axis Bank’s mobile app and internet banking. Customer support will transition from Citi Phone to Axis Bank’s Phone Banking, and transaction alerts and e-commerce authentication will now carry Axis Bank branding. Unredeemed Citi reward points will be converted to Axis EDGE REWARD Points or EDGE Miles, retaining their value. While pre-migration points will not expire, post-migration points will expire after three years if there is no activity. Additionally, e-NACH mandates will now be managed by Axis Bank, ensuring timely credit card payments.

4 HUGE Changes Coming to Your Citi Card (You Need to Know 3!)
Starting Monday, July 15, 2024, Citi’s credit card portfolio will officially move to Axis Bank, marking a major transition for Citi cardholders. Axis Bank has assured customers that the process will be smooth, with ongoing updates as needed. Once the migration is complete, Citi cardholders can continue using their existing Citi-branded cards until they receive their new Axis Bank cards in the coming months.
With this transition, Citi credit cards will now be rebranded under Axis Bank. For example, the Citi Rewards Credit Card will become the Axis Bank REWARDS Credit Card, while the IndianOil Citi Credit Card will be renamed the AXIS BANK PREMIUM Credit Card. Similarly, Citi PremierMiles Credit Card holders will transition to the Axis Bank HORIZON Credit Card. Each card will now follow Axis Bank’s benefits and rewards structure, ensuring alignment with its offerings. Additionally, cardholders will have a combined credit limit across both Citi and Axis Bank credit cards.
Despite these changes, some key aspects will remain unchanged. Citi-branded cards will still be valid until the new Axis Bank cards are issued. Credit cards backed by fixed deposits with Axis Bank will continue to have a separate credit limit, distinct from unsecured cards.
Axis Bank is also ensuring minimal disruption during the transition. Card numbers, PINs, expiry dates, and CVVs will remain unchanged. Card controls for POS transactions, contactless payments, online purchases, ATM withdrawals, and international transactions will stay as they were set by the cardholder. Existing balances, EMIs, and billing cycles—including statement dates and due dates—will remain unaffected. Additionally, any annual fees and spend-based fee waivers will continue under the same terms. However, payment channels will shift from Citibank to Axis Bank, requiring customers to use the Axis Bank Mobile App and Internet Banking for managing their credit cards.
In terms of customer service, Citi Phone support will be replaced by Axis Bank’s Phone Banking. Transaction alerts and e-commerce authentication portals will now carry Axis Bank branding. As for reward points, unredeemed Citi reward points will be converted into Axis EDGE REWARD Points or EDGE Miles with the same monetary value. These points will never expire if they were accumulated before migration, but any points earned afterward will expire after three years unless the customer makes a transaction, redeems rewards, or logs into the EDGE REWARDS portal within a year.
Lastly, existing e-NACH mandates for credit card repayment will now be managed by Axis Bank, ensuring payments are processed three days before the due date. This comprehensive transition aims to integrate Citi cardholders into Axis Bank’s ecosystem while maintaining a seamless experience with minimal disruptions.
